The Offshore Development  BOT Model Explained

 

 Delta’s BOT model does not involve outsourcing or sub contracting. At all stages through the BOT process, the offshore team is owned by the client. 

 

  • At the BUILD stage, the client has the option to either RENT or BUY. In the rent model we intially recruit developers on a contract basis, rent office space by the seat and can include Infrastructure as a Services. This enables a very fast start and when you are ready this can be converted in to a semi or permanent BUY model to both further reduce costs and provide longer term options for you.

 

  • If you want a permanent presence Delta can incorporate a business entity such as a wholly owned subsidiary company in India. Delta will assist in the incorporation process, using the services of company law professionals. The offshore team will be employees of the client’s Indian subsidiary company, or, if the client does not wish to employ the team on their own payroll, the team can be placed on a professional agency payroll  

 

  • Through the BUILD stage, Delta provides management support in India, to recruit suitable resources including managers, team leads, developers, support resources; and HR/Administrative resources as well. Delta will also make available the infrastructure for the offshore team, and the client has the option to choose leased serviced offices, or a Delta infrastructure partner. 

 

  • At the BUILD/OPERATE phase, Delta will assist in identifying the development/support process to be transitioned offshore. If the client’s processes are not properly documented onshore, Delta will assist in ensuring this. Delta also recommends bringing the offshore process managers/team leads to the client’s onshore sites for process training and mentoring, prior to transitioning the process offshore. Delta can assist in managing the logistics of getting the resources onshore for a training visit.  

 

  • Through the OPERATE phase, Delta will provide full scope management support to the offshore team, to achieve quality and productivity parameters as agreed to while commencing the offshore project. Management support will include a regular on site visit to the offshore team in India by a senior Delta consultant for onsite reviews, and support from senior Delta consultants in the UK/US through regular review calls. Through this phase, Delta also encourages the client’s onshore managers to visit the offshore team at least quarterly to review the progress of the offshore team. Delta’s India based consultants will participate in such reviews. 

 

  • Through the OPERATE phase, Delta’s management support for the offshore team will include ongoing training and mentoring for the offshore team leads and managers, with the objective of ensuring a smooth transition at the transfer phase, when Delta withdraws from the client’s offshore operations. Through this process, Delta can assist in identifying a suitable manager/team lead who will take charge of the offshore operations post Delta’s exit. 

 

  • At this time Delta will also assist is defining and implementing HR policies for the offshore team, including a fully documented HR policy manual to ensure full compliance with Indian HR practice and legal requirements with respect to salaries, tax, insurance and pension issues. 

 

  • At the TRANSFER phase, Delta exits the client’s offshore operation and the client’s managers are exclusively in charge.
